Busy Weekend & A Surprise!

Hey!  Happy Sunday morning!  This weekend there was all sorts of festivals going on in the DFW Metroplex!  My mom and I hit up 2 festivals and a trade days event - we were busy busy!  Friday evening we went to Grapevine Main Street Days Festival.  We saw a cute Lego puppy:

And watched some glass blowing:

Glassblowing is one thing I want to learn how to do - Thankfully, after this weekend I know a few places where maybe I can take lessons.

There was a lot of food and artists booths and music, but mom was tired from a long day at work and I was tired from yoga, boot camp class, and cleaning the house, so we only stayed for about 2 hours.  Plus, you can't eat festival food if you want to eat healthy!  Probably the coolest thing we saw was at the end of the street:

The city's first jail!  Mom and I both really enjoying seeing old historic sites and learning about the past!  I didn't even know this was near the festival - we just got lucky.

Saturday morning we went to McKinney Trade Days which is about an hour away from us but was well wroth the trip!  Here is mom sitting on a bench we liked:

And some photos of things we go... I have a D&B Cross Body 3 Zipper Purse that I absolutely LOVE, but its black so I got this:
Its more summery.  Mom got one too in a different pattern; we are thinking they will come in really handy when we go on our cruise!

I also go this planter:

Not sure yet if I will leave it white or paint it.

I got this pink skull bead:

I doubt I will use it as a bead - I just liked it and it was on $1 so I got it!

And, the last item I got was:

Isn't that adorable?  The rust rubs off, so I think i will probably end up sanding it and painting it, but not sure if I will paint it white or pink!  And I'm going to cover it in with ribbons and pretty materials, perhaps put a tutu on it!

Mom got 2 signs to put on her fence - a Dr. Pepper one and a pig one.  Also we got a wicker shelf which will be used for my room for the time being until I leave and then she will do whatever she wants with it! We spent about 2 hours at the trade days - and boy were we tired after that!  McKinney Trade Days is very large which means lots of walking.

We came home from the trade days and took a nap.  After our nape we went to Arts Goggle - an event happening in Fort Worth.  There was hundreds of artists set up in different locations on the south side of the city.  We saw an art car:

And art guitars:

and art on the wall:

Again there were lots of artists, and food vendors and musicians.  It was fun for sure, but we didn't buy anything this time.  So we were walking around for at least another hour to hour and a half.  Lots of walking which is good because that was our exercise for the day.

We ended our evening with our favorite place to go on Saturday - Cracker Barrel.  Saturday is lima bean day - we LOVE their lima beans.

And now for my surprise!  Today is my blog's 2nd Birthday!!  Can you believe I have been blogging for two whole years now?  In honor of this momentous occasion I have decided to give away 2 original mixed media pieces!  Now I won't show them to you - they are surprises for whoever gets them!  So, if you would like a chance at one please let a comment saying so - tomorrow I will put names in a hat (if necessary) and pick 2 and those two people will get the art as long as they are willing to give me their mailing address.  So... leave a comment, I'll draw names, then I will post who the winners are and they can fork over their addresses.... simple, right?  I hope so!!

So, thanks for visiting today and have a GREAT rest of the day.

Fun and busy... That first jail is fascinating, and there it is without so much as a sign! And it takes some eve doesn't it, to pick up a guitar and start on sticking and painting on it...I feel that more than I feel the need to worry over ripping up a book!!
