Vacation Day 8 - Cozumel

Our last stop on the cruise was Cozumel, Mexico.  Last time we went to Cozumel we did the Tulum Mayan Ruins which was cool, but super hot and lasted all day.  This time we did Discover Mexico and Chankanaab.  Discover Mexico is a place to learn about Mexican History.  It first starts out with a video in a theater with 4 screens, each screen playing something different - as soon as the video is done, the video loops around but switches screens.  If your not paying attention you might think you just got a new video, but I knew better.  I felt like the video was pointless.  Then you go through a small art gallery with representative art from different areas of Mexico.  I like art so this was cool with me, although a bit drawn out.  Lastly you take a tour through a garden area with to-scale miniatures of Mayan ruins and other important buildings in Mexican history. 

This was super cool at first - I really enjoyed hearing what the guide was telling us about the buildings.  It started to get hot though and this part of the tour started to drag on - it lasted about 45 min longer than I think it should, and when your HOT and HUNGRY that is not good!  I was quite perturbed by the time we left Discover Mexico.  One last cool thing happened at Discover Mexico -

Thankfully Chankanaab was not far away!

 Chankanaab was outstanding.  They have a dolphin area so you can do a dolphin encounter here if you want.  There is also snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, a pool, restaurants, etc.  If you are looking for a good day at the beach - this is the place to go!  I snorkeled for a little over an hour - it was outstanding.  I saw tons of fish - a few school's of fish even swam around me!

After Chankanaab we went back to the port of shopping.

We got snow cones and then boarded the ship!  That evening a dinner I danced with our favorite server during the evening entertainment:

Because of Chankanaab and a bit of free time at the port I enjoyed Cozumel more this time than last.  I would recommend skipping Discover Mexico and going straight to the beach!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
